Recently named the Head Varsity Coach at Fossil Ridge High School

Kayla was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu where she played varsity for Kamehameha Schools for four years and made it to the state championship all four years.

Her team won two state titles out of the four years they made it to the state championship. Kayla received conference honors all four years, conference MVP senior year, and was named to the state fab 15 honorable mention my sophomore year and fab 15 second ranked player my junior and senior year. In the state championship game her junior year, Kayla was MVP of the state tournament.

Kayla was a multi-sport and also played soccer and did track and field in high school, where she won a state championship with soccer  freshman year and went back to back state champion for long jump.

In 2017, she was inducted to the HHSAA Hall of honor. She then received a full ride scholarship to play at the University of Nevada as an Outside hitter. Her freshman year she was more of a utility player and played Right side/opposite, DS, libero and outside hitter. By her sophomore year she solidified her role as an outside hitter and played that position for the rest of her college career which just finished last fall in November 2022.

Kayla received 4 MW player of the week honors throughout her career as well as 3 all conference honors. She was named to multiple all-tournament teams, 3 of which were MVP awards.

She's coached club volleyball since 2019 at Northern Nevada Juniors volleyball club (NNJ) as a floating coach since she was still playing college ball and couldn’t commit to being assigned to a team full time. She  worked with youth ranging from the age of 4-18.

Kayla moved to Colorado after she was done playing collegiately to be with and watch her boyfriend finish his college career playing football at CSU. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree online through Nevada in Justice Management with graduation in May 2024.
