Jim Stone

Jim Stone

Jim Stone is one of volleyball’s most celebrated coaches of all time.  He coached at Ohio State University for 26 years where he led the Buckeyes to 15 NCAA Tournament appearances and reached the Final Four in 1991 and 1994.  During his collegiate career, Jim coached 60 all-conference players, 15 Olympic Sports Festival participants, 37 all-region selections and 22 All-Americans. Four of his players have played for the Canadian and two for the United States National teams.

Since retiring as head coach at Ohio State in 2007, Jim has been busy working within the USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline serving as head coach of the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team. He served as head coach for the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team 2008-2013 as well as the assistant coach for the U.S. Women’s National Team during its gold-medal performance at the FIVB World Grand Prix.  Jim also coached at NORCO for 6 seasons where his teams qualified for Girls’ Junior National Championships at Open or National every season.  

For the 2023-2024 season, Jim will be leading our National Team Position trainings as well as serving as the assistant coach for 16 Black.
