By NORCO, 10/03/17, 8:45AM MDT

Julie Ward, Norco 18-Blue player and Berthoud High 4-year varsity starter, has committed to play DII volleyball at King University in Bristol, TN.

Julie has played club volleyball since her 12's season and for Norco since her 14's.  Starting out as a setter during her 12's and 13's years, she converted to an outside hitter, due to the arm strength she gained from also playing/pitching in competitive softball, from age 7 to age 14, when volleyball became her sport of choice.  Julie also plays solid defensively in the back row as a 6-rotation player.

She has played at the Colorado High School 4A State tournament every year of high school thus far and at the AAU or GJNC nationals tournament every year while at Norco.  Her accomplishments include:  Golden High School Tournament MVP (2014), 4A Tri Valley All Conference (2015, 2016), Berthoud Surveyor Athlete of the Week (2016, 2017), Reporter Herald Athlete of the Week (2016), Reporter Herald All Area (2015, 2016), Reporter Herald All Area Player of the Year (2016), Coloradoan All Area (2015, 2016) and CHSAA  4A All State Honorable Mention (2016).  She plans to major in either Exercise Science/Kinesiology or Criminal Justice/Criminology (Forensic Science).

"I would like to thank my parents and family for all their support, my current and former teammates and all my coaches throughout the years for giving me the training and opportunities and pushing me for continuous improvement".  Her favorite quote and words to live by:  "Always stay humble and kind."
