University of Denver freshman Nola Basey (Lyons, Colo.) was named The Summit League’s Freshman of the Year, it was announced at the volleyball awards annual banquet on Thursday evening in Indianapolis, Ind.

Seniors Colleen King (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) was also named to The Summit League’s All-League Team, while Basey joined the All-League Honorable Mention list and the All-Freshman Team.

Basey received the Freshman of the Year award after being the only freshman ranked in the top-10 in more than two statistical categories in league play.  In league play, she ranked fourth in service aces per set (0.36), eighth in points per set (3.52) and 10th in kills per set (2.93) and digs per set (3.05 digs per set).
