BRISTOL, Tenn. – Julie Ward of the King University women's volleyball team continues to add awards to her collection as she was selected first team All-Southeast Region by the D2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). Ward was also named America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Southeast Region.

Ward becomes the second player in program history to earn D2CCA all-region honors, joining Summer Kremer in 2014. She is the third Tornado to earn AVCA all-region honors, joining Kremer in 2013 and 2014 and Payton Tipton in 2013. Ward is one of two players from Conference Carolinas to earn D2CCA all-region honors, and the only one to garner first team honors. Fellow Conference Carolinas member, Kaytlin Elkins of Barton College earned second team honors. Ward was one of two Conference Carolinas players recognized by the AVCA as she was joined by Stephanie Hardy of Emmanuel College.

The Berthoud, Colo., native was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and first team all-conference last month, following a spectacular season. Ward has led the Tornado offensively as she ranked second in the league with an average of 4.03 kills per set and second with 371 total kills. She also leads the league in service aces per set with an average of 0.53. On the defensive end, the sophomore averaged 3.28 digs per set and leads King with 15 double-doubles on the season.

Ward was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week three times throughout the season. She posted a career-high 24 kills while hitting .579 in a win at North Greenville University and followed that with 23 kills and 14 digs in a win at Emmanuel.

She was also selected to the Conference Carolinas all-tournament team following a pair of double-doubles in three matches. In a quarterfinal, Ward registered 19 kills along with a .421 attack percentage and added nine digs in a win over Converse College. She followed that with double-doubles in a semifinal and the final, posting 15 kills and 19 digs against Limestone College and accounting for 22 kills and 10 digs in the final against Emmanual.
